When we woke up on our second day outside it was raining like mad. But, you know, it’s London so we got out anyway. We went to Notting Hill that probably would be happier with more sunlight, but we really couldn’t miss its fabulous colors that made me want to move there immediately. When you travel with boys you know you cannot go shopping so we just went to a tea shop, Whittard, where I bought a present for my sister, to the bookshop of the wonderful film Notting Hill and both to a Juice bar, Joe & the Juice and a cupacake shop, The Hummingbird Bakery. Witthard sells many tipes of tea, infusions, chocolate and marshmallow in fancy metal boxes in pastel colors or decorated with flowers. Of course it sells also mugs and other accessories for the tea time. I’ve cursed myself for bringing just hand luggage. Really what was I thinking?! I could have bought like half of the shop if I had space! Oh, and another point goes to this store beacuse you can taste everything before buying it! Read the thing about hand luggage again, when we got inside the bookshop I saw so many limited edition of books I love that couldn’t go back home with me. The others didn’t like much Joe & The Juice as it offers pretty healty juices, but the health junkie that’s inside me liked the idea. Joe & The Juice have you ever considered opening like in front of my house? You won’t regret it! And finally to balance fatty and healty: the cupcakes. We took them take away to eat them during guard changing (later to see what happened), they were really good and really sweet. The shop is very tiny but beutiful, full of any kind of cakes and cupcakes. I’m still regretting the missing entrance at many shops so I’m sure about one thing: next year I’ll be back in London (my friend Annachiara is moving there) for a long session of shopping, expecially in Notting Hill!
Seriamente a cosa stavo pensando?! Joe & the Juice avete mai valutato l’idea di aprire tipo davanti a casa mia?
We took the tube to Green Park and once at Buckingam Palace we discovered that they wouldn’t make any cerimony even if it stopped raining. We enjoyed anyway our cupcakes with a view and went up on the wonderful Victoria Memorial to take photos around us reading the history of the palace and memorial on my guide.
We went back to London Eye and after taking some street food fur lunch, we went at the beginning of the cue. I was still looking for our tickets when I told the guard ‘Sidney told us…’ and in a few seconds we were up on our cabin. Sidney, if you are reading this, and I know you aren’t, thanks for existing. The show was breathtaking, we were lucky there was a little sun and we were able to see everything. I’m pretty scared usually when I’m on things like this, but not this time, I’ve enjoyed every single minute of the ride.
Down a pouring rain we moved to the area on the south of London Bridge. We went for a walk till the majestic Tower Bridge, that we crossed. The light was the one every photographer dreams about, the shades of blue taken both by the water and the buildings made the photos look spectacular. I don’t know how much time we’ve spent there!
Non so quanto tempo siamo rimasti lì!
Crossed the bridge we went visiting the Tower Of London, that took us all the afternoon. We’ve seen it all, losing ourselvs in english history. The only thing that we weren’t able to see, and I really regret it, is the torture tower. Me and Veronica are Middle Age passionate so it was like going to Gardaland for us, even if rained all the time and the wind was exhausting. Honarable mention goes to The Crown Jewels, we were all fascineted by their dimension and splendor. We decided to go back, to go to Borough Market to take something to eat for dinner. Clearly it was raining so much they closed everything. We crossed it and went to see the door for Bridget Jones’s house, me and Veronica’s paladina. The plans were to go to the Shard, but we discovered that the metro wasn’t running all night long so we went back home and after a grocery shopping at Sainsbury’s we cooked something and went resting for the day after. So guys, have you visited any of these places? How was your experience? Stay tuned for day 3!
E voi ragazzi, siete mai stati in questi posti? Qual’è stata la vostra esperienza? Rimanete sintonizzati per il giorno 3!
